The Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) expressed its curiosity  to companion with more world celebrities as tourism ambassadors because it pushes to enhance arrivals from key supply markets.

The DOT signed a partnership with South Korean actor Seo In-guk on Friday, twenty first February, below its Philippine Tourism Ambassador (PTA) programme.

In this capability, Seo will assist promote Philippine tourism in his house nation.

Tourism secretary Christina Frasco identified: “We’ve already done it with Japan, with Alan Shirahama. Of course, we’re also looking to our other top source markets for globally known celebrities.”

Promoting with the celebrities

The PTA is a DOT-led initiative, applied in tandem with its advertising and marketing arm, the Tourism Promotions Board.

It goals to invigorate arrivals, particularly from key markets by collaborating with well-liked personalities from the goal nation.

In 2023, the DOT tapped Japanese celebrity Alan Shirahama, a member of the Japanese boy band Exile and is thought for his roles within the J-doramas Daytime Shooting Star, Prince of Legend, and One in a Hundred Thousand.

With Seo, the DOT mentioned it hopes to maximize the South Korean star’s enormous following on social media and entice more South Koreans, particularly these from his fan base, to journey to the Philippines.

Frasco has but to determine what market the DOT is focusing on for its subsequent celebrity tourism ambassador.

The nation’s prime sources for inbound guests are South Korea, the United States, Japan, China, Australia, Canada, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and Malaysia.
